From NBCDFW, Hoang Nguyen, a Fort Worth resident for over 20 years was forced Wednesday to leave his home after signing away ownership without knowing.
Mr. Nguyen is a 72-year-old Vietnamese immigrant with not the greatest English living in Fort Worth. It started around May when Mr. Nguyen met Armentha Faye at a local code compliance meeting in Fort Worth. Nguyen had thousands of dollars in code violations and was looking to get them removed from his home record. After meeting Faye at this meeting she showed up the next morning at his home. Faye that moring had Mr. Nguyen sign some papers. Mr. Nguyen unknowingly signed away his 180k home for $5,000, money he states he never received.
Wednesday, November 21st police and bystanders watched Mr. Nguyen and his family pack up and leave their 20-year residence as there was nothing that could be done. It turns into a civil matter now but one thing for sure, Mr. Nguyen wishes he had never spoken to this scammer and signed over his home.
After speaking with Sam at a local Fort Worth “sell my home” company, Sam explained the scammer had Mr. Nguyen sign a “quitclaim deed” for his home essentially transferring all legal rights to the home to Ms. Faye.
Armentha Faye declines all allegations at this time and also refused to speak with us regarding the matter. Unless Mr. Nguyen can find a lawyer to help out his case, his only option is to say goodbye.
